Our Inspiration

In 2005, Tanya Pinto, the founder of Baal Dan, took a sabbatical and volunteered at Mother Teresa’s orphanage “Shishu Bhavan” and Home for the Dying “Kalighat” for three months in the city of Calcutta, India. This experience was life-changing and Tanya was inspired to start Baal Dan Charities after experiencing volunteering for Mother Teresa’s mission and by a quote she read on the wall of the orphanage:

“If you can’t feed a hundred people, then feed just one.”

Baal Dan Charities is dedicated to helping children in need as directly and as efficiently as possible with a special focus on providing food, supplies and education to vulnerable children in developing countries.
