Dream deep, for every dream precedes the goal." - Pamela Vaull Starr Thank you so much to every single Baal Dan donor and supporter. Thanks to all of your generous donations, this year Baal Dan provided aid to over 1,696 children in need in India. This has been an amazing year and I could not have done what I did without all our wonderful volunteers and donors, so please accept my heartfelt thanks for YOUR efforts to feed, clothe and educate children in need. 2011 BAAL DAN AID HIGHLIGHTS 2011 has been the most significant year in Baal Dan's history. We opened our first school with Project Mala for 150 children in Turkahan, near Varanasi. We opened two orphanages - called Bachpan Home for Boys and Bachpan Home for Girls in Calcutta with 16 children each. We started an additional fund to foster special education teachers with Reach Swasraya in Kerala where we sponsor 15 children. We dramatically helped 25 malnourished children living in a garbage dump in Hyderabad through our grassroots medical camps, and supplies of food, clothes and toiletries. Provided aid and immunizations for over 200 children in the slums. Baal Dan provides 100% of education costs for 98 children - double that of last year. Formation of Hyderabad, India Chapter and Perth, Australia Chapter The Annual Sunny Fundraiser was held raising over $30,000 in 2011, and over $100,000 since 2008 - many thanks to Lena and Royce Sunny and the sponsors of the event. Baal Dan provided aid in three main areas: 1. Feeding Programs One-year grants for food for street children's shelters, orphanages and food distributions for street children. 2. Supplies for Orphanages/Schools One-year grants in kind of things like: water filters, furniture, school supplies etc. 3. Education sponsorships Thanks to some amazingly committed donors, Baal Dan provides school fees for impoverished children including their uniforms, shoes, books and other school expenses.
